Dia Dos

We woke up lazily Sunday morning and had breakfast at the resort's restaurant.  On our walk over, we couldn't help but notice how...empty... the resort felt.  The last time I went to Mexico, you had to head down to the beach chairs early if you wanted to be able to lay under an umbrella for the day.  This time...we could have sat in any chair save (maybe) two.  I guess that is the difference between Mexico in the winter and Mexico in the late spring during wedding/graduation season.

Because we were practically the only guests at the resort, our first brunch there was served to us by about 3-4 waiters who wanted to make sure we were very happy.  We chose a table right next to the ocean and was entertained by one of the waiters who threw burnt toast in the ocean to bring a school of tropical fish over to us.  I had a plate of fresh fruit--papaya, pineapple, melon, and grapes, and a few pieces of toast.  I was happy and satisfied.  Nathan ate one of everything off the buffet (and probably two of the handmade quesadillas).

After brunch we went over to a touristy booth in the lobby of our resort and was greeted by a lady whose job was to help us plan our week.  She gave us cookies, coffee and a gift-shoppy Mayan calendar and talked to us about all of our touristy options.  We planned a couple activities for the week and scheduled a massage for later that afternoon.

It was the first professional massage either of us had ever gotten, and we went all out.  60 minutes, full body, deep tissue.  By God, if there is one time in my life that I want an awesome, sea-side massage, half-naked, next to my husband, it is going to be on the beach in Cozumel on my Honeymoon!  How was it?  How do you think?  Ah. Maze.  Ing.  No amount of my literary expertise can put into words how awesome a professional massage is.  mmm.

Since it was Sunday and most of all the shops/everything were closed, we spent the rest of the day alternating between reading books in hammocks on the beach and swimming in the resort's pool.  Ahhh.... ~
